The XL125R was the early-1980s update of Honda's 125 trail bike. It kept the air-cooled two-valve OHC single, slightly revised with a 56.5 x 49.5 mm bore and stroke, and paired it with a six-speed gearbox, CDI ignition and a larger 9-litre tank. It had a taller seat and longer chassis, and it still ran drum brakes at both ends. It aimed to be an easy, economical commuter that could also handle light trail riding.
